What was the whole logic behind trading battier for thabbet ? Thabbet is a disgrace to the NBA?

The dragic trade is okay. I,m talking about when they gave up Battier for Thabbet. I thought there goal was to make the playoffs and they gave away their best teammate to the rival whom they're competing with to get to the playoffs. Usually teams trade best players for expiring contracts and young talent, but Thabbet is a loser who only came ot the NBA because he wants $. He cant rebound, play defense and I believe he was the highest draft pick to be sent to the dleague. And also he is owed money next year, but battier was an expiring contract
