Why would anyone fret about or donate money for the Japanese earthquake when Africa's problems DWARF it?

People love feeling like they're doing good. Donate to Japan and you can see your money doing good--you see people given food, water and shelter. You see the situation improving and you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Besides Japan is the new trend (that's another thing people love). Remember going Green, Join(RED), and Live Strong? People love all that crap...especially if they can get a bright-colored wristband announcing their generosity to the world.
